FAQ

Q) I can hear scratching noises in my ceiling at night, do i have an issue with rodents.

A) Hearing noises in ceiling voids during the early hours is usually a sign of Rodent activity. Rodents are nocturnal by nature and will typically forage for food during hours of darkness. The front teeth of a Rodent continually grow throughout its life cycle therefore a distinct scratching noise can often be heard from rodents filing their teeth on joists/ beams etc. If you fear you may have an issue with rodents in your property please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Q) I think I have spotted a Rat in my garden, what shall I do?

A) Rats are usually after 3 things. Water, food and harbourage. Like humans rats need to hydrate and will often nest in areas where there is a readily available water source. Are there items across your garden that are collecting water? if so remove them asap.
Are you feeding the Birds? if so ensure you have an anti rodent catch bowl fitted to your feeders which help prevent food debris on the ground which can provide Rodents with an easy food supply.
Is your garden cluttered and untidy? Rodents thrive and survive in areas where there are many hiding places, clear and remove unnecessary items. This will subsequently make for a less favourable environment for Rodents.

The house mouse (mus domesticus)has an acute sense of hearing often using high pitch frequency and ultrasound to communicate. The first signs of a mouse infestation are the many droppings they leave behind whilst foraging for food.
Mice build nests from many materials within their environment such as cloth, paper & litter.Nesting sites vary from wall cavities, roof voids, under floor boards and even furniture.

Mice are classed as sporadic feeders often taking little amounts of food from many different areas. A key difference between Mice and Rats is there ability to hydrate through food products therefore not relying on a water supply to survive.

It is very important to eradicate mice quickly from your property as they are highly intelligent and rapid breeders with litter sizes swelling in some cases up to 16!
